How does hypnotherapy work?
Discover the secrets of Hypnotherapy here in Cornwall.
Hypnotherapy is a technique that uses deep relaxation to provide beneficial results, effective for a huge range of issues.
Suggestions made to the unconscious mind can influence the behaviour of the conscious mind.
There are many different techniques in hypnosis, but some of the most successful are those using visualisation.
People who can close their eyes and imagine a place, a smell, a colour etc. find hypnosis an incredibly useful tool.
There are also techniques for those people who find it hard to visualise things, everyone sees the world in different ways, some people are visual, some prefer sound, and some are very tactile (touchy feely people) this is why hypnosis is so useful because it can be tailored to suit your individual needs so that you get the most out of your treatment.
Many of us lead busy stressful lives and sometimes get bogged down with negative thinking. When those bottled up thoughts and emotions are left to build up it can lead to anxiety, emotional issues and loss of confidence.
I can help to put you back on track, help you to remove those negative thoughts and patterns until you are back feeling positive confident and in control, able to cope with whatever life throws at you.
Whether you are going through a stressful divorce, a time of loss or struggling to face a phobia whatever your issue I can help.
You are not unconscious during hypnosis, nor are you asleep, the best way to describe the feeling is a comparison with that of an early morning wake up....of when you are in bed in a morning, you have woken up just before the alarm goes off, you do not have to get up yet, so you are lying there your mind is alert but you have your eyes closed and are deeply and totally relaxed, that calm comfortable state is fairly close to that of light hypnosis.
Being in a a hypnotic state is an incredibly pleasant sensation, and there are different levels of state you may enter, varying degrees of relaxation.
You are not out of control, and will certainly not be made to do anything silly as is often the misconception formed of hypnosis because of the stage shows around.
I would like to point out that Stage Hypnosis is entirely different to Hypnotherapy.
The aim of stage is to ridicule the participant to get a laugh, whereas the work that we as Hypnotherapists do is to help and support the participant in overcoming their issues in a safe environment, and at no point will you ever be made to feel silly or uncomfortable, your wellbeing is our total focus.
When you are in that totally relaxed hypnosis state you are fed positive statements, helped to visualise events and situations, helped to increase motivation, confidence, and the drive to achieve your goals.
If you are being treated to help you give up something you consider to be no good for you for example chocolate or alcohol, or stop smoking, you will usually also be given an aversion appropriate to you, so that it helps your willpower, for example you will associate the taste of cigarettes with something else that you really don't like...
